Angon Advanced:
into the heart of the waterfall
The trip that leaves a mark: a 35m single-pitch abseil right into the middle of the Angon waterfall. Access via the famous walkways, descent through the spray. Unforgettable.
More committing, more vertical, more memorable
If you've already done canyoning (even just once) or if you're looking for a more technical and vertical experience than an introduction, Angon Advanced is the one for you. Same canyon as the Discovery trip, but accessed differently — and a radically different experience.
The approach is unique: you walk along the famous Angon waterfall walkways, the cliff-side path overhanging the torrent that hikers around Lake Annecy know well. Except instead of just admiring the waterfall from the viewpoint, you'll gear up, rope up, and abseil straight into the spray, right in the middle of this 60-metre cascade.
It's a short but intense trip (3h total) that concentrates the essence of the Angon canyon: the iconic abseil, then the lower part of the canyon with its slides, jumps and pools. A course particularly loved by abseiling enthusiasts, via ferrata fans, and anyone who enjoyed the Discovery and wants to step up.
The abseil inside the Angon waterfall
The Angon waterfall is one of the most beautiful cascades in Haute-Savoie: 60 metres of total height, visible from the road to Talloires. It's normally reached by walking along the cliff-side walkways pinned to the wall — a classic tourist trail of Lake Annecy.
What we do is different: from those same walkways, you tip backwards into a rappel right inside the waterfall. 35 metres of single-pitch descent, in the wind and spray, with the pool getting closer beneath your feet. The moment you touch the water at the foot of the cascade is a sensation you don't forget.
The abseil is roped, secured, and controlled by the guide from above. You descend at your own pace. There's nothing more impressive to do in the canyons of Annecy — and frankly, few canyons in France offer such an accessible big-wall rappel.

Your advanced trip, step by step
About 3h between gearing up and exiting the canyon. Here's what you'll experience.
Welcome & equipment
Meet at our Angon base. The guide welcomes you, fits you with a 5mm neoprene wetsuit, helmet and canyoning harness. More technical briefing than for a discovery trip, since the 35m abseil requires understanding how to handle the descender.
Access to the middle of the waterfall
You walk along the cliff-side walkways leading to the Angon waterfall — the classic tourist trail of the lake. Stunning views over the cascade and the lake below. Halfway through, we leave the trail to reach the abseil starting point.
35m abseil in the waterfall
The guide sets up the rope, checks your equipment, explains the technique. And you tip into the void. 35 metres of single-pitch descent, in the wind and spray of the cascade, the pool getting closer below your feet. The guide stays above to supervise and secure. Descent at your own pace — some take 3 minutes, others 10. Everyone arrives at the bottom transformed.
Slides, jumps and pools
After the big abseil, we continue with the lower part of the Angon canyon: natural slides carved in the rock, progressive jumps (always optional), shorter abseils, swimming in the turquoise pools. A relaxing moment after the intensity of the abseil, but still very playful.
The "Letterbox"
The narrow passage that gave the canyon its nickname: a slot where the river dives in, followed by a short abseil in a spectacular setting. You then arrive towards the canyon exit, with the view opening onto the lake.
Exit & debrief
Walk back to the base, gear return, hot shower available. The guide then sends you the photos and videos — and trust us, the shots from the 35m abseil are worth it.
