The most complete canyoning playground in the French Alps

The Annecy basin enjoys an exceptional geographical position for canyoning. Here, the limestone massifs of the Bornes and Bauges, sculpted by millennia of alpine torrents, meet the pure waters flowing down from the Tournette and Charvin peaks. The result: a unique concentration of five exceptional canyons within a 20-kilometre radius around the lake.

This geological diversity creates very different atmospheres from one site to the next. Angon Canyon descends towards the lake in an almost Mediterranean setting, with its famous 60-metre waterfall and turquoise pools. Montmin Canyon, higher in altitude, is a playful torrent dotted with jumps and slides. Pont du Diable offers a more committing atmosphere, in narrow and wild gorges.

Add to this an ideal logistical setup: all our canyons are less than 45 minutes from Annecy, accessible by bus for some, and let you finish the day at the lake's beach. Hard to find better in France for combining whitewater sports and alpine lifestyle.

The 5 canyons of Annecy in detail

Discover the characteristics of each site where we take our clients.

Angon Canyon "Letterbox"

📍 Talloires-Montmin ⛰ All levels 🏞 60m waterfall

The most iconic canyon of Lake Annecy, located on the eastern shore between Menthon and Talloires. Its nickname comes from a characteristic siphon passage. Its courses adapt to all levels, from family-friendly to technical, and the exit at the foot of the canyon offers a stunning view of the lake. The 60-metre Angon waterfall is one of France's finest abseils.

Montmin Canyon

📍 Faverges-Seythenex ⛰ Sporty 🏞 Jumps & slides

Renowned for its aquatic and playful character, the Montmin canyon takes its source at the summit of La Tournette, the highest peak around Lake Annecy. This mountain torrent strings together small waterfalls of 1 to 9 metres, perfect for jumps and natural slides. Fewer abseils than Angon, but much more whitewater swimming: a dynamic and refreshing tour, ideal between June and mid-September.

Reserved for experienced practitioners, this canyon offers total immersion in a spectacular mineral universe — a playground for those who want to go beyond the region's classics.

Nestled in the Fier valley, the Grenant canyon is our "off the beaten path" option. Less frequented than the region's classics, it offers a more intimate experience in a wild and preserved setting. Everything about canyoning in Annecy

Answers to the essential questions before booking your tour.

Do I need to know how to swim for canyoning in Annecy?
Yes, you need to be able to swim to practice canyoning safely. Basic water comfort is enough for beginner trips like the Angon Canyon. You don't need to be a competitive swimmer — being able to float and move in water is sufficient. For sportier tours like Montmin, better water skills are recommended.
Which canyon should I choose as a beginner in Annecy?
The Angon Canyon "Letterbox" is ideal for a first experience. Accessible from age 8, it combines fun slides, small jumps and abseils in an exceptional setting just 30 minutes from Annecy. For those who prefer jumps to verticality, the Montmin canyon is also an excellent beginner-intermediate option.
What is the minimum age for canyoning?
Our discovery trips at the Angon Canyon are accessible from age 8. Sportier courses like Montmin Advanced or Angon Integral are reserved for teenagers (14-16 minimum) and adults with good water skills. Maximum weight is 120 kg for safety reasons (abseiling gear).
What is the best season for canyoning in Annecy?
The classic season runs from May to September, with the best conditions between June and August: clear water, moderate flow, mild air temperatures. For Montmin, the ideal period is June to mid-September. We also offer Winter Canyoning from November to April with dry suits — an extraordinary experience in snowy landscapes.
How much does a canyoning tour in Annecy cost?
Our prices start from €57 for the Discovery tour (2h30 in the Angon canyon, from age 8). The Angon Advanced and Montmin canyon are €69, and Angon Integral is €85 (4h, full day). Gear and guiding are always included. Detailed pricing on each tour page.
What equipment is provided?
We provide all the technical gear: 5mm neoprene wetsuit (or dry suit in winter), helmet, harness and abseiling equipment. You should bring: swimsuit, an old pair of sports shoes (which can get wet), towel and a full change of clothes. Gear rental is included in the tour price.
Is canyoning dangerous?
Practiced with a state-certified guide, canyoning is a safe activity adapted to your level. Our guides assess weather, water flow and group level before each trip. Jumps are never mandatory — there is always an alternative via abseil or downclimbing. Equipment is systematically checked before each descent.
How many people per group?
Our groups generally include between 4 and 8 participants per guide, allowing real individual attention and good safety management. For organised groups (companies, stag/hen parties, birthdays), we can mobilise several guides in parallel. On request, private tours in pairs or very small groups are also possible.
How do I get to the canyon site?
The meeting point is either at our Annecy base or directly at the canyon site. Angon is a 30-minute drive (bus possible from Annecy, around 20 min). Montmin is a 40-minute drive (bus possible, 30 min). Pont du Diable is 45 minutes by car (no bus). Details are confirmed when you book.
Can I gift a canyoning tour?
Yes! We offer gift vouchers valid for one year for all our tours. An original idea for a birthday, Christmas or Father's/Mother's Day. The recipient then chooses their date based on availability and seasonality. Contact us via the contact page to receive your personalised gift voucher.
What happens if it rains on the day of the tour?
Moderate rain doesn't prevent practice — you're already wet! Tours are however cancelled in case of storms, torrential rain or flood risk. This decision is made by the guide based on river flow and weather forecasts. In case of cancellation on our side, you are fully refunded or can reschedule.
Can we take photos during the tour?
Yes, and it's even highly recommended to keep a memory of this adventure. Our guide takes photos and videos during the tour with a waterproof camera and sends them to you afterwards. You can also bring your own GoPro with a helmet or chest mount — we can advise you on optimal placement.
